Thanks man! We'll see what happens. Would be funny to get an ambient track onto a "IDM"forums compilation, but I guess the beauty lies in the diversity of this forum.
Maybe some need a breather at around 50 minutes, before the last 24 minutes of the over the top glitch-galore tracks.
Some of these are pseudo-ambient, but they are all great.
Stewart Dempster: Underground Overlays from the Cistern Chapel
Pauline Oliveros: Deep Listening (actually, anything by the Deep Listening Band)
Bruce Fowler & Phil Teele: Synthetic Division (not all ambient, but some tracks are, and are truly bizarre)
Ingram Marshall: Fog Tropes, Alcatraz
Larry Austin: art is self-alteration is Cage is... (one track from "A Chance Operation: The John Cage Tribute" - an excellent example of a very dissonant ambiance that is also soothing and beautiful)
Ambient Systems 1-4 - Instict's classic series tho the earlier ones are still the best.
Ambient Boxed by Instinct - classy 4CD comp, each disk a different flavour
Ambient 1-4 Virgin - another classic series vol4 bieng quite rare.
Distill by Divination - probably the best ambient comp ever selected by Bill Laswell
Ambient Cookbook 1 - early FAX classics
Ambient Cookbook 2 - later FAX classics
FAX Ambient Compilation's 1-5 - i prefer these as a full listen than Cookbook's 1&2
Pop Ambient - Vol 2007 is my fave
Deep and Chilled Euphoria - ok I know 'Euphoria' comps are mainly cheesy trance but this is very different and amazingly mixed.
Mixmag Live Vol 9 - golden classics mixed by The Orb and Mixmaster Morris from back in the day
