I dont know, im just asking. I dont like any "true" elements of "industrial" anywhere, anaal nathrakh could be an example, maybe.

Re: Metal

Gojira!
They are a fucking amazing death metal band in my opinion.

Alot of their songs are kinda boring, way too atmospheric and "emotional" (not emo, but the riffing is kinda emotional)
But they still got alot of songs that are metal as fuck!

The later part of "In The Wilderness" (4:10 to end of song) is just amazing!

Also, this track:

The intro is awesome!

I don't really post those songs here as a part of the discussion going on, i just think the are awesome and everyone should hear them!

nonsense. there's absolutely nothing boring about their songs. one of the best metal bands around.

@D_Davis beat you to it.

Fuck, now im going through my cd-s with a nostalgic feeling Gojiras atmosperics is what i considered their strongest point. Flying whales, ffs

Here's a rather minimal metal song. Couple of riffs, one drum machine and pure awesomeness!

yeah, like i said before, i've always associated the usage of samples or harsher synth sounds/textures with industrial. so to use the aforementioned Amenta, as an example, it gives them a distinct vibe that's readily apparent if you compare to any typical death metal band. that's all. and Anaal Nathrakh (who are awesome) is probably not a good example for you to use because to my ears, they sound cleaner than the Amenta. i do get a small industrial vibe from them, but it's probably mostly comes from their usage of a drum machine, so that's where that kind of mechanical feel comes from.

Re: Metal

I dont know, i find it hard to find a industrial metal band that will have that early lo-fi sampling feeling. Or in general, have that feeling. Samael had it on earlier albums, i really liked what they did ( playing one orchestral sample across whole keyboard ) which gave it that atmosphere that does it for me.

aha, i think i'm finally understanding what you were getting at.

and i like aborym a lot. was thinking of mentioning them before too because i was getting a kind of Deathspell Omega-ish vibe from their last album ('Psychogrotesque'). but i think 'Generator' was the best album they've done.

any love for Mirrorthrone? one Swiss guy doing this absolutely epic symphonic black metal.

Re: Metal

I think I saw Gojira open for Gwar.. either that or it was 36 crazy fists or some shit.. I can't remember

@shellbound: Well I had to try anyways. look up their remix album from a few years back, alternated species, the last track..

I would've told them that their music was kinda losing my interest in like 2006, but it probably would've just been taken as an insult..

understand where I'm comin from??

what they're like in person doesn't necessarily factor into whether I call them an asshole anyways. I'm talking just based on their public actions over the years and that sort of thing. Maybe they're all really nice people in person, I don't know, I don't really care.

and hammett's licks are blues licks because they're blues licks. he might not have played them bluesy, they're still the same licks. i'm not saying that's all he played or anything but c'mon. guitarists have been using those in solos for what, 60 fuckin years now? 100? longer?

I'll say this: I'd rather listen to metallica then pantera, and at least they're not as big of assholes as Dave Mustaine is. That guy is quite a prickbag.
PAntera? You mean megadeth?

No, I meant pantera.

Those were separate statements, I didn't mean to imply that Mustaine was in pantera.

Haha, yeah, flying whales is awesome! Love that song!
But i meant songs like Unicorn and such, they might be nice to listen to when in that mood, but when you just feel like listen to some real god damn metal, then i think they might be abit boring ^^

Re: Metal

Dimebag Darrell was buried in.. a novelty KISS casket..

come on megadeth is way better than metallica, but some of their songs do sound ridiculous.. none of these bands have released anything worth mentioning since the 80s though..

Kreator was where it was at anyways..
