Quick vote, what do you guys like more, the early 4/4ish stuff or the newer abstract stuff?
Generally I prefer the post-confield stuff more in recent years but I still like the older stuff too, eggshell came up randomly on my ipod yesterday, I hadn't heard it in a while, the sun was out and it was a nice blast from the past.
Ok after checking out these interviews and the stuff on sound on sound, I have been really getting into amber, confield and tri repetae.
Man I did not fully understand how amazing these guys are, absolutely beautiful stuff.
Despite reading their interviews I am still having trouble distinguishing what exactly their methods are. I mean from what I can tell, especially from that screenshot of their digital performer tracks, and from just how their beats flow (confield) it basically seems like theres a hell of allot of chopping audio and moving things around with tons of manual editing.
Just to throw this out there, do you think they are creating their songs in more of a performance based way? Like jamming with drum machines and synths all synched up to midi, or are they getting into a really analytical process of using the mouse and punching in all these things by hand?
