Budget external soundcard for instruments recordings

I want to do a collab with a guitarist but the man only has the built-in soundcard that comes with his PC.
What would you recommend with a very low budget (~100 /$) to get fine recordings ?

Focusrite Scarlett is pretty much the standard for entry-level interfaces:

Amazon.com: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2 In/2 Out USB Recording Audio Interface: Musical Instruments [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Amazon.com: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface: Musical Instruments [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Or check out your local gumtree / craigslist / ebay / classifieds...there's usually quite a few going for cheap.

You can set it clean or dial your guitar sound right into it. It's also $99.

Re: Budget external soundcard for instruments recordings

I got a cheapo Roland Duo-Capture it's got 2 in's, 2 outs, only ran me around 90 bucks, came with Cakewalk Sonar LE and I use it's sample libraries entirely too much since I got it.

Amazon.com: Roland DUO CAPTURE Audio Interface: Musical Instruments [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Looks like used ones around 40 USD.
