shame about the mp3 release.. he cant be much over 30 at best id say late 20's i played with WRD about 2 weeks ago in manchester and it was an incredible night, i met pproy and got to share the stage with wisp and global goon, good stuff : )
I shouldn't be so quick to judge, considering I have not heard all of his stuff, but to me his music, especialy those melodies sound way too much like aphex twin 96-97 for me to give this guy credit. Maybe it's just that i'm getting too old and was 15 when "come to daddy" and "hangable auto bulb" came out and was forever changed by that sound, and mimicked it till my heart was content, but I would never claim that sound as my own. So, it just the ol' geaser in me complaining... You people enjoy it if you like it.
All of these young bloods need to understand that this so called "IDM" music, which is hilarious to consider dance music intelligent, is that the people who created "braindance" or "IDM" were stretching equipment to limits that were never imagined before and CREATING a style and sound that was never heard before from the "machines our (their) parents used." Now this genre of music is catered to like it was rock or jazz. I appreciate the continuation of this style of music, but lets be progressive about it, not just make artifice resembling the likes of aphex twin or squarepusher or autechre. There needs to be something like that spark from 1996, and I've yet to hear it. the end is near, or maybe it had passed.
