It would be great if that happened..and it very well might. But I think we'll see it added to their "services" and you'll need to buy into those in order to get your hands on it..which would be worth it, I guess.
I think, tbh, I have a problem with their image in general..the whole "..everything you need for your next big hit" thing puts me right off, as they come across as pandering to noobs and the naive out there..and it's a shame to see Cakewalk a part of all that.
At least CW will live on in some form, which is better I guess, than seeing it die where it currently stands.
Signed up. Not seen anything obvious on their site about linking accounts. I like their logo, even if the name sounds a bit cheesy.
Do keep us updated on how it goes. I didn't sign up..don't really "feel" what they're offering..maybe it's an age thing..but I doubt any such service is what I really need " to make you next big hit". I think I'd just become frustrated with them in the end and don't feel like having to pay for the experience..but that's maybe just me..maybe they're atop-class service with a lot to offer..just doesn't appeal to me, though.
"Cakewalk by BandLab is a streamlined version of SONAR Platinum – and certain third party products and content bundles will no longer be included. Existing users who have already purchased bundles or individual third party products and plug-ins can still use those products with Cakewalk by BandLab.
The new installation of Cakewalk by BandLab via BandLab Assistant will not affect previous installations of SONAR.
All users can download Cakewalk by BandLab and access the full feature set for free, without access limitations.
Any bundled or independently purchased plug-ins or add-ons that worked with SONAR will integrate with Cakewalk by BandLab."
Pretty cool move! Allows me to give Sonar another chance after never really getting comfortable with an older version (X3). Looks nice too, but that will be the improvements over the older version i'm used to probably.
