It's a good synth. Somehow it's classified as a "budget" synth even though it's obviously more high end than most things out there..

It's good, but prices have been dropping on the M3 lately so keep an eye out for that..

Hi Shotgun,

I know for a fact your gonna flame me but.... Your knowledge in these matters more than compensates for the flaming. Im gonna buy one most likely. I have right now the Korg TR 76 and for like $200 more can get a new M50-61 key version. My questions are and these are probably gonna sound pretty stupid to you but here goes nothing: 1) Can we create our own sounds using this synth? Is the unit powerfull enough to do this? 2) Is this going to be ok for electronica techno/house/DnB?

Thanks

p.s. flame away, then answer

Why would I flame you?
I would say that I'll never figure out why people want things they don't know anything about! There's google, youtube, online music shops - everything! The information is all out there - I promise you.

It's decent for most electronic music genres. It _is_ a workstation keyboard however, do you know what one is? Research that term if you don't.

That trade +200 bucks is a good buy though, I'd definently do that.

I did a simple google search, here ya go:

Yes I realise this. The MAIN issue for me is the fear that I will not be able to tweak the sounds for Techno/House as much as I would be able to tweak them with a Waldorf Blomfeld Box. DUCY? Obv you do. If I knew of more people using the M50 for Electronica then maybe I would feel more comfortable with it.

I can't tell you that. It's not made for specific things, it's supposed to be quite all-encompassing. If you want a synthesizer you should just buy a synthesizer but to be honest I think the M50 would fit you quite well. It has great sounds and they're customizable enough to be able to get your own sound while still actually spending the majority of your time composing.

Loads of huge electronic music artists love the M3 and the m50 is the "budget-version" of it so there you go.
