Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
Awesome, seriously good work Triton, rep'd. Looking forward to hearing these!
We're test running this right now but eventually I'd like to see a forum strictly for cataloging these podcasts, maybe even making a section on the label website for this.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
Decent idea...
Though apart from the fact that I'm far away from the 200 posts mark, I find the 3:30 thing an inartistic knock-out criterion. It will only boil down to people do fade in/out.
It is the task of the "DJ" to select the part of a track which fits best to the previous and to the next track.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
Unqie Beats would be interested in being involved with this. I already do the Unique Beats podcast for the last 6 months or so and got a good listener base so any collaboration on this project could work...we can punch it out to our listeners as podcast too etc? as well as doing our usual monthly podcast consisting on tracks we use (from IDMf users and elsewhere).
check out the podcast [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register] if you want and let me know what you think.
P.S. Fid, that track in your signature is fucking amazing...kudos.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
i dont think you can privately share to a group, or i havent figured out how to (your group name does not appear on the "share privately" list)
to my knowledge, you can only share privately to a user account. which means, that everybody joining the group will be able to download your mp3s from there.
thats sad, since the idea is great and i want to participate!

Hey cheers man!
Yeah, this project is just starting out but is a great way for people who have been around for a minute to start showcasing their music. Sort of a listening-booth-highlights kind of idea. Collaborating on it sounds like a good idea

there will be a spoken blurb about the artist and their work inbetween tracks. And the post count requirement has been decreased to 50.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
This is a great idea, expect to get one from me every 2 weeks!
Although the 3:30 thing may be hard to do for some people/tracks, I don't think it "inartistic" at all. I'm gonna have to creatively trim some of my songs for submission.
Really looking forward to this Trtion.

Great idea, nice way to preview tunes before IDMf signs them outright

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
The 3 minute 30 second thing could be a bit limiting in my opinion. You'll find people less keen to send in there tunes if they've had to edit them to fit the criteria as they may feel that the tunes played on the podcast do not fully represent their actual tune. That make sense?
In an hour we normally play 6-8 tracks but we do talk a lot inbetween. We very occassionaly fade track out and knock a minute or so off but only once we've listened to it to make sure that fading it out will not impact the tune too much.
It might be better to have a limit of 1 hour but just fit in as many tunes as possible in that space without making people edit them. If you are planning one a week then it's not too big a deal as you'll get through plenty of tunes in a month.
My 2 cents.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
I love the idea of 3:30 seconds, keep it short and sweet! More room for tracks that way. Excellent initative and if there is any way I can help out by making graphics or otherwise?
Thanks for doing this, the results are going to be amazing.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
While I respect the idea of the 3:30 limit, I don't think I could handle cutting up my 7 minute plus tracks to fit. It would be different if it was in the middle of a set, which is what my stuff is designed to do (more or less). Good luck with this venture though.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
Great idea! I don't think the 3:30 thing is destructive or detrimental to tunes at all. It sounds to me like this would be a teaser for the real thing. Kind of a a "HEY, look what we are doing. If you like what you hear point your web browser to...xxxyyyZZZAAAbbb This hour of IDMf Soundcheck was brought to you by...bbbAAAZZZyyyxxx."
I'm excited to hear how this plays out. Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
Remember guys, we're just trying this out for now, and hopefully things will become more rounded as we progress. This is the first time we've ever decided to do something like this, and that's pretty exciting. The 3:30 fade in/fade out isn't that big of a deal imho, though it would be nice to eventually use full tracks.

Re: The IDMF Soundcheck (a Bi-Weekly mix-show)
Yeah that's such an idea. I'm interested in submitting to it (while I realise I need to get a bit more stuck in to this forum to do so).
A good way to unify the community here by showing what everyone has to offer.
Cheers.
