Re: Lush Chords

What the hell is a lush chord?
Maybe try a 7th chord or a 9th chord or a 13th chord?
Chords don't sound "lush" man, its how you present the chords, the instrument that is used to play them, the articulation... Its all a bunch of little things.

Re: Lush Chords

So why shouldn't note choice be one of the things that determines if a chord is "lush" or not?

Re: Lush Chords

7th, 9th, 13th and other extended chords can sound lush. doubling up on the root and 5th also change the texture of the chord.. But chord extensions usually fill out the sound.. Try voicing the chord over two octaves with both hands using a different inversion with each hand, that will really fill out the sound

All of them. a, b, c, e, f, and g. Not necessarily in that order. Oh and I somehow forgot d.

Like the other guys said, adding more notes to a chord adds more depth. Also adding sustain, decay and release filters along with delay, chorus, reverb, rotary effects etc can help add depth.

Kind of a silly question tbh. Like asking "What notes do I play?" Want us to write your songs for you? I really dont want to come off like a dick but damn, it's hard not to want to have a go at ya after you ask which chords sound lush.

Re: Lush Chords

C minor 7 flat 5 voiced with a nice rhodes sound using a subtle touch.. spread it out over two octaves..

Left hand play the notes c, e flat, g flat, b flat

Right hand play notes e flat, g flat, b flat, c

Articulate with a soft touch and it should sound lush ...

Re: Lush Chords

Also, once you have got the notes worked out, a nice long reverb and a delay will really fill out the chord.
