I want to make music so if anyone could help me tell me what preset to use on which synth and tell me what notes to play and in what order and also what drums to use and how to make them pop good and then I'll do whatever you tell me and it'll be very rewarding

I made a thread titled "Figure It Out Yourself" some time ago after trying to help somebody who wanted their hand held and remember creating a shitstorm. Some toward me and then a branched out effect involving others. Some defending the community involvement in helping others learn. Which was fine but this kind of thing was what I meant when I defended my title and point of view.

(edit : reading your thread now, it seems like your point of view was something like "I want to keep some of my production skills secret" which I wouldn't agree on. But the context is everything, too. I don't know if you've seen that Chachi Jones thread. There's a video where after a live show he shows the patches he's used and explains how it works. It's very interesting and could be inspiring but not in a "i'll copy that" attitude. Even if I could understand how he made it all work, it wouldn't make it less magic "how the fuck did he come up with that")

I like when some things are kept secret. Makes it a challenge for people to match it and more chance of new sounds and ideas being made in the process. I like artists that stand out in style for a good period of time at least.

It's an interesting thing as I do feel like anyone should have the right to be able to make music but if everybody was doing it, it becomes such a diluted form. Harder and harder to find good innovative stuff. More and more people raising their hands trying to be noticed. The internet of course is the thing.

I just feel you really need to put forth a very strong effort and find what the music means to you and not worry about the time it takes. But it's different these days with electronic music then learning an instrument. It's become similar to learning to beat a video game and getting a top score, you know?

anyway, I know the music I'll make isn't going to be the same as everyone can do because I haven't listened to the same stuff they did or haven't paid attention to the same thing they did. I've got ideas and interests that are my own. Not totally original though, since I have references that surely influenced it.
And also, I know I'm not going to make the same music as all these internet kids because, me, I can read books. The boring ones.
