Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
+1 for a super clean mix. I have never gotten it yet.
And moombah/reggaeton type stuff, its hard for me to get melodies for that that arn't boring/unoriginal

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
I have trouble turing my ideas into songs. I'll come up with a cool beat, but have trouble putting a melody to it. Or I'll come up with a cool melody, but have trouble putting a beat with it.

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
So far the hardest thing I am having trouble with is figuring out how to control the tempo of the track with an ADSR EG. It's easy to do, but very hard to get the settings just right.

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
Trying to write stuff with actual chord structures takes quite a bit of effort for me. I get bored and it turns into a random slew of notes that happen to sound decent together but no idea where it's going.

This. I very often happen to start a track, get bored with it, start a new one, get bored with it, rediscover the first track and have problems improving it.
So yeah, continuity is a big one.

I have a similar thing but it's half-finished tracks. I'll lay down a few riffs, make up some beats etc. then I get stuck, let the thing sit for two years, look at it again, try to make the next part up and nuthin'. Fuck.
All momentum lost. Abort.

Any 4 on the floor that is faster that 135 bpm.
I hate it because i love psy-trance, but I am totally unable to produce anything good in that genre.

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
Mixing. Im bipolar when it comes to mixing. And considering Kavelred is a duo, the mixing either gets really good or really bad haha.

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
about lyrics, there is a simple trick.
just add cool words at key spots in your mix.
listen to the track as a whole.
fill in words that fit with the contex you allready have.
listen again.
again fill in some more words.
if you look back it looks like you have writen a real lyric that makes sence, while you didn't, but hè, no one will ever know!
the beauty of a recording studio, we control time!
it's like having your own deLorean and you are Doc.
the key to lyrics is having a message or red line as I would call it.
when I wanna boost myself I just use positivity and that works great. Listening back your own music, saying really positive stuff to yourself. Makes one feel real good.
as to my own crypt2nike...
I am an instrumentplayer as well.
to many idea's and just one lifetime to make it happen.
maybe I should hook up with someone, but to me most of it was a loners game so far.
smoking weed and playing with my toys in the studio others may call my livingroom.
I have my drumkit in it, guitars, a few arranger keyboards, synths and offcourse, my mixtable.
ow, and don't forget my monitors, the sweets.
Once again,
do yourself a favor and study real musictheory once in a while, it really worth the effort.
all I have read so far in this treath as easily fixed by just spending 2 hours on a few internetvids on how music accualy comes alive.
And don't think you get bored by it, it is what you like so much, your gods did it a became famous! And even made you wanna create music yourself!

Yeah, those sort of "nonsense" lyrics work in traditional EDM (Underworld does it a lot), but my stuff is goofy and poppy and would just be terrible if the lyrics were abstract.

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
you think so?
gave me a piece of music and I will blow you away and make magic happen with a lyric made up like that.
It does not have to be abstract. You can allways re-record the vocals right, making it sound like one piece.
That's what being a DJ is about. Putting slices together making it sound as if it was played in a straight way.
Would you take that challange, just for fun?

Re: What is Your Musical Kryptonite?
Patience. When I take the time to really work on a sound it comes out great, but I am so ADHD that I can't sit still that long. As well trying to figure out how to do certain things with the filters I use.
