Not looking for any plugins!

i like to ask you guys a question about this track/video!

search vimeo track called: partitura 001 (tefon tel aviv)

at first you here just a simple beat and some good sound. but the magic happens after 2 minutes.
after 2 minutes the beat gets complex and beautifull and i like to know what telefon tel aviv did there?

i believe this is done by hand (editing) and not by vst but maybe i am wrong...

i am talking about the fast edits beside the beat.

is there anyone here that cant tell me how this is done?

Sounds like a lot a percussion sequences with automated effects like delays, re-triggers, choruses, etc.Do you have a delay plugin that can smoothly alter the delay time in real time? Fabfilter timeless is a good one. I can't really tell you much more. The user [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

There are too many ways you can do this. The only static thing I notice is the panning.

Re: Not looking for any plugins!

i've been able to get similar results using microtonic, but any drum synth will do. that said, its not just a turn it on and call it good kind of thing. It involved doing a lot of automation and eventually bouncing to audio to do cut ups, reverses and a bunch of effects automations.

you can hear the results here (after the 2 min mark):

Cool track. Do you remember what you were automating?

Re: Not looking for any plugins!

Thanks for listening.

I was automating the amount and rate of the pitch mod, as well as the overall freq of the drum oscs

heh, basically everything. i'd use the mod waveshape as sine so i'd get FM tones @ higher frequencies.

once i bounced it I adjusted the tempo's of the short sequences so that ableton's warping engine (using texture mode) had some artifacts and then automated the pitch further as well as grain and flux

its not quick work, but if you are looking for that level of detail well, its going to take loads of work.

Since then i've been able to get interesting results using Ableton's Operator as a drum synth. basically doing the same thing i mentioned above, only with more oscillators and mod sources to work with.
