They ALL used it. If you get those CDs, you'll recognize most of the sounds. The ones I listed were the main sample CDs in every producers studio at the time.

While we are at it.


If you wanted to try and replicate some old skool conditions. Try working with very short samples like no longer than 2 second grabs. And manipulate the hell out of them.

In the absence of a sample CD what you want is (I can't post links yet):

Good little site. Shows how the break can sound (usually pitched up). Sometimes really surprising what those old jungle guys could coax out of a break. It's also hilarious when you realize how many of these you are familiar with, without knowing it.
