My point of view. Bible is an excellent moral compass for whomever reads and understands what it says. What is prophecy, history, what is symbolic or not who am I you or some priest to decide that?

Also please do not generalize christians based on what some say or do. I would never allow some guy in a robe to put water on my childs head in a building called a church. Nor do I celebrate the birth of christ that lived 2000years ago on 25th of dec. And if someone told me to spin around 5 times when I get up from bed, turn my ass to the south and fart to pray to god I would laugh.

You should also try the Quran, the Way to Happiness, and finally, the Call of Chtulu. They are all very deep books. What is fact and what is symbolic is not up to me to decide, ain't no priest here.

I don't believe priests to have an authority someone else hasn't.

I read a lot of philosophical books. I started with Quran and while the intro was good I find other text more interesting to read at the moment. But I will definitely read it sometime.

I read platon, descartes, newton, einstein to name of a few great philosophers. All great thinkers and with similar views on God as the one I have myself.

Call of Chtulu interests me but for other reasons then metaphysical/spiritual ones.

And yeah read a quick review on way to happiness. Sounds interesting. Don't think it can give me anything I do not already have though. Don't know anything about Scientology really.

Well I said it was an excellent moral compass. That part of the bible is not that hard to get or to interpret any other way. Even heathens understand the basics I'm sure.

As for the other parts of the book. There is no reason to argue about it. You have your belief, I have mine and they wont combine.

There's some good parts. They're mostly common sense - don't hurt people, don't take what's not yours. There's also some stone cold fucking retarded parts like those I mentioned above.

I'd rather read something I actually find interesting, like scientific information, or James Joyce, or Tumblr, where i can find intellectually stimulating comics like so

Yeah there are so much interesting things to read. But if you haven't read the whole then how can you judge it? Based on what others say? Who are they to say what it means.

I'd say Zen Buddhism is kinda close to what bible says in regards to how to live your life.

Yeah Bible has a bit more to it and in my opinion its quite vital for spiritual guidance but not necessary.

About the Jealous part. Jealous as in loving someone that does not love you back and loves other things (Idols). I don't see the problem here.
