Re: Mastering with Sound forge-how to?

What kind of plugins are you running on? Just standard Sound Forge ones?

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]
(not a pdf but looks very useful and goes in depth).

(soundforge in depth).

Hope that helps. Let me know what software your runnin and then perhaps I can find more in depth guides.

Peace.

Re: Mastering with Sound forge-how to?

Honestly Highz, it's all about your sound.

Some people love the Waves plugins, I can't stand them. They're too clean.

I love a big of warmth or distortion or clipping, I know that sounds strange but I mean it.

I would try Vintage Warmer, it's a dope program that can add a lot of body to your sound.

As for Waves plugins, the only ones that I could stand were the Multimaximizer (Limiter), and the MultiCompressor (I forgot the name). That compressor was sick.

It's called like the c1 stereo or mono compressor.

BTW that first link is very helpful, a little clearer than most mastering guides.

Re: Mastering with Sound forge-how to?

Yes, that's right. The C4 is one of the best compressors I've used in recent memory.

But that's just me. I loved the clarity of the low end (even when boosted).

Re: Mastering with Sound forge-how to?

I use ableton + Izotope Ozone 3 Vsti (wich has a nice tutorial also) for mastering.

Here you can find a useful video wich explain mastering:

this is the best mastering book, it's well worth it. Bob Katz '[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]
' , then master for a few years for practice. Or check this out, [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Hi, Highz,

Did you get the PDF on mastering using soundforge you wanted? Can you send me a link, as well?

Re: Mastering with Sound forge-how to?

I've been trying to master in Sound Forge after producing tracks in Ableton. So far that's just entailed applying EQ parametrically (I don't enough about slider function to do it graphically) and normalizing the sound (even though Ableton has this function, I decided to go with Sound Forge).
Both of the initial links are expired, anyone know any mixing/mastering in a DAW guide? I would prefer something specified to Sound Forge, or maybe an Ableton plugin I could switch to. Really any easily readable guide to finishing a track once it's all there and made.
