Who's GENIUS idea was it to default reverse order threads?
I'm sure there's an option in the control panel somewhere that I'll look for immediately after posting this, but ffs, the OP of a thread should be at the top, not 5 pages forward...
* Fixed, but come on. In who's head does that not set off a nuclear bomb of frustration? Who thought "hmm. maybe people want to see lots of contrast in comparison to the title of threads and the first posts they see and get really confused until they realize what's happening."?? Who authorized this? When would this idea EVER be a good one? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?!
Re: Who's GENIUS idea was it to default reverse order threads?
I really only ever read the thread title and comment based on that. So, not knowing if someone has answered your question or if this thread has turned into a shit show... as if I don't know which of the two has happened - I am going to say Jesus. Jesus made it that way because Jesus.

Not only is it the vBulletin default, it's the default of the world! Well, at least the logical rational parts of the world that like to be productive, stick to schedules and get shit done.

Nobody's. It's not really that frustrating. It's not like I open my email every day and go mental because it shows me the most current emails first instead of the ones I received fifteen years ago.
I guess it's frustrating when my girlfriend texts me though because I like to read every single text she's ever sent to me so that I can put the one I've just received into context. But this is a minor annoyance. I've actually printed them all out so that whenever she texts me I can read the paper document first. It's great, now I only have to scroll up one or two screens after reading a 70 page document!

I'm guessing whoever mandated the common sense approach assumed that people would have the common sense to read the date-timestamps of the posts.

Pretty much all of the time. Now that I think of it, I can't think of many systems that don't default to this.
I think before computers, it would have been pretty annoying for people to have to place everything at the bottom of the in tray. I mean, it would be pretty annoying to have to remove everything from the in tray, place the item you're putting in it right at the bottom and then replace everything else on top of it. I mean, how frustrating is that?
