My first dubstep song was actually Deadmau5 - One Trick pony haha. i didn't realize what it was and kinda thought it sucked. i began to like Deadmau5 a hell of a lot more bc of his other tracks but one day i was surfing youtube and clicked upon Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. I honestly think i had like an ejeculation of my brain when i heard that song on the first day. Holy shit i listened to it 6 times in a row cuz i had never hear anything like it at all. It was pretty awesome.
First dubstep artist that comes to mind was when I was browsing UKF Dubstep on YouTube looking for tracks I really enjoyed, and Zomboy with Organ Donor back in 2010 is the track I felt most fondly of. As for the first artist I ever had heard, I'm not sure. I didn't know Skrillex was a thing until his Equinox track came out. I've never liked his oldest stuff but his new Recess album is mostly great.
Either 16bit's remix of Shallow or Rusko's Pro Nails. I listened to brostep for a while because I thought it was some kind of natural progression even though I knew it sucked. Still listen to JVIZ earthquake weather on dubstep.fm, always some good music.
Ha! I second Rusko - Pro Nails. I had brostep remixes of known songs for DJ gigs when it was "hot". My knowledge still isn't vast, but I'm really into a lot of the artists on Deep Heads, Sleeper... dark and deep stuff.
Can't remember when I first heared of dubstep but these are the oldest records I own that I would consider giving that tag, although at the time I would have said "grime" - even then I was a pretentious cunt and hated on dubstep.
