:NOTES:
This whole album is the fruit of 2012 and my time with the Lowrey Cotillion D575
All tracks, exempt IG88s remix and the last song, Are based off the cotillion.
The only components that are not, are my voice and the beat programming. However
I did use compressors, EQ, Panning and some effects to mix the cotillion into the multitrack
environment. Also to have more creativity.
Released on the solstice of 2012, Muskoaka’s ‘Thirty Years Past Present’ marries the meticulous multi-layering of warm analogue organ lines (courtesy of a 30-year-old Lowrey Cotillion D575) to complex polyrhythmic electronics in a lovingly constructed and perfectly balanced tribute to both the warmer sounds of the past and the ultra-crisp sounds of the present.
In exploring the organ’s inner textures and natural ambience, Muskoaka builds snug, soulful compositions from the ground up, resulting in an album teeming with playful melody lines and balmy analogue haze. The accompanying electronics both accentuate the organ’s natural warmth and elevate the album to a level beyond mere homage.
At a time when the boundaries between the old and the new have never been more blurred, ‘Thirty Years Past Present’ embraces all that is good about both worlds, distilling the essence of each into one wondrous, kaleidoscopic whole.
