i am somewhat of a passive reader (including the "only registered users can see that link thingie") for a couple of ... i guess years? (scratches head).
anyhow i am terribly slow with everything so it took quite a while to register... and well here i am, in all my sheepish glory
my first contact with somewhat different electronic music must have been fsol, biosphere and the orb back in the 90s (getting old can be amazingly quick sometimes). and well then followed by the usual suspects autechre, aphex twin etc.
personally i stumbled onto electronic generated noise thru a zx spectrum and then later the amiga 500 (i did horrible tracker songs back then... but had tons of fun whilst doing so (and i do horrible tracks nowerdays...still enjoying it)).
got quite a bit of a hardware setup back in the day... til i stumbled upon reason 2.5 (never crashed - and in stark contrast to my hardware it never ran out of mixing channels and cables) and stuff like jeskola buzz (amazing when it did not crash ...those beautiful peer machines). went totally minimalistic and nowerdays i use only a laptop with reason (i actually upgraded after 10 years from reason 3 to reason 8... like i said i am quite slow) and ableton live (got attracted by the colorful pads on the push2).
still kinda miss the good old days of reasonstation.net. imho it had the same vibe as the mod/tracker scene. load up a song and study how it was done.
that is me in a nutshell... a hopefully somewhat friendly, albeit abstract sheep
looking forward to see what it is happening in the realm of more alternative electronic music nowerdays and getting inspired by (in a good way) weird music
