Modular software & programmingMaxMSP, Reaktor, Pure Data, Jeskola BUZZ, and other modular programs. Any questions relating to these programs (patching, favorite ensembles) should be posted in this forum.
I use both. Digital is great for a technical perspective but that lacks the relationship between you and the synth.
More and more I am seeing people pay less attention to the mistake's that turn out to be a great sound on analog gear and loose the relationship with that piece of hardware for programing a synth exactly how it is supposed ot be in order to get a sound.
What happened to the days of dicking around with modular gear while your DAW records for hours on end just to pick up an amazing unheard 30second sample?
Today all I see is. Change this knob to 30% that one to 12. Put it through this filter. Rather than, Changing aspects of the sound as you feel the music and what you get from the hardware your working with
"Live the early years of your life like most people wont, so you can live the rest of your life like most people can't"
Analogue, because "Digital" is not electronic, it is maths. With Digital, electricity is merely fuel for a computer to do computations, whereas "Analogue" is truly electronic, thus it is the only viable option for creating "electronic" music.

Analog or digital has nothing to do with the amount of knobs you have. A VA is digital too, but can be expensive and have lots of knobs too.
The main difference is that analog is slightly less precise/predictable. So envelopes/osc tunings/filters differ for each note. In the digital realm they don't differ by default but you can often modulate it.
New analog synths are getting more precise now and have less of those differences, and digital ones (software or VA) are getting better at emulating these variations, so the difference will be narrower. There are some other differences, like aliasing which is not happening on an analog signal path
Show me an example sound you like, and I'll try my best to make it in something like sylenth1 and on an analog poly synth, then you can hear for yourself what the difference is.
