Sorry, mate, for not getting round to checking out your stuff before now..was busy with my own offering and other stuff off line. Anyway, I just listen to them all and here's a short accounting of my thoughts on the same.
Track 01: Nice use of samples..and I really like that "stuck in a groove" feel I get from it. Good work, B/F.
Track 02: Like how that over-lay scratch sits well on everything in the mix..and that slightly muted kick is as smooth as they come.
Track 03: Trippy shit..REALLY liked this one a hell of a lot. I would have dl it if you'd had that turned on. Crazy, mad, mixed up shit..but dreamlike..in a good way.
Track 04: Like this one a lot, too. Don't know why, but it kind of reminds me of the movie "Hanna". You have a nice trippy vibe to your stuff..and nearly all your tracks so far seem to work on more than a few levels, which is cool..meaning they fit more than one listening mood for me.
Track 05: Wasn't expecting that..the epic feel on this one..but, man, it works real well. I like how you gradually build the hip hop vibe in this..and, tbh, I'm not a big hh fan, but I'd listen to this any time. As usual, your use of distortion is great and works well on this one, too.
Track 06: A kaleidoscope of sound..everything bumping together, yet making a pretty sonic picture is how I'd try and explain this track. You seem to have a real knack for blending the dark and light together, yet keeping them both apart at the same time. I like how this one progresses as it plays out..nice work.
Track 07: Kept expecting to hear Trent Reznor break out into vocals on this one..enough said.
Track 08: I liked the dream-like vibe I got from this one. If I could, I'd lower everything in the foreground a little and bring up those pads a tad..kind of reverse the whole thing if you know what I mean..but that's just a personal taste thing..nothing wrong with how it stand at the moment. Over-all, a good one for gazing.
Thanks for sharing, dude..and congrats on such a productive and inspirational month!
as I'm listening (track one isn't there any more for me):
2 (fraga) - really cool filtering and subtle progression. Would love a T Yorke type melody to weave its way in and out of this texture, since it's reminding me quite a lot of some b-sides of rhead. Really like it, great stuff.
oh wait, there's 1 - quite like the riff, but this one sounds more hollow than fraga, and flatter. some pretty cool filtering but it doesn't have the same badass dream vibe to it, although the riff is nice enough.
3 (warped) - interesting stuff going on, but sounds a bit random to me. the drums sound like they're in a completely different building to the rest of the track most of the time, but there are bits where it all pulls and pushes together for a few seconds and it all makes sense. pretty cool!
Alright, I'm going for a cigarette, will resume shortly.
OK, track 4 - I listened to it and enjoyed it quite a lot, but then my housemate came back and I appear to be a bit drunk.
track 5 - some more cool loops and filtering going on. Is this really hip hop? Hmm... Quite a lot of this stuff is reminding me of Actress, noisy looping rhythmic wooziness.
might need to come back to listen to the other three tomorrow. good stuff!
