Re: Synaesthesia and Electronic Music

Apparently everyone is at least mildly synaesthetic. Have you ever been falling asleep and a door slammed and you saw a flash of white? Since that's all I've experienced I can't go much further than that but I imagine that's what it would be like for a wider range of sounds.

/\ nope. Never seen a flash in my life unless it was cleverly inserted into a video game or movie I was watching.

Re: Synaesthesia and Electronic Music

I've been aware that I've had this ability for many years, but never knew there was an actual name or condition for it. I don't usually picture colors as some have mentioned though. When I hear music, I typically see an image of some sort of abstract scene or environment, as well as textures in motion. For instance, lately I've been stuck on sounds and music that paint pictures of dark, low lit, environments with dynamic lighting usually in some pre-industrial era. Weird, I know, but thats the best I can really explain it. -Pretty cool a lot of other people have similar experiences. I think it really helps me write music, because I can sort of paint a picture with sounds in my mind. but i do end up wasting some time zoning out listening to loops over and over again. o well.

Re: Synaesthesia and Electronic Music

I know this isn't an uncommon thing, but do you guys hear each note as a specific, constant color?

I want a mod of FL studio so that the notes automatically are the color they sound like. I know you can individually color each one but, eh, not really worth the effort. Still, when I look at all the light green my brain wants to hear F.

Anyone ever paint their songs?
