Hey everbody,

when i play a a Chord, let's say Cmaj7 with 3 notes (C E G) on one instrument and the last one (B) another synth, sometimes it sounds really weird. if i play the same chord on only one of the instruments/synths, it sounds nice though... (none of them were detuned of course )

can anybody think of a reason why this could be?

That probably has to do with the osc settings. Things like deture/finetune/coarse tune, or maybe even a built-in chorus fx can make the sound out of tune.

Yes, it may sound wierd to you and other people but theoretically its "right".
Also it might "change" (sound different to the ear) if you try playing it in other frequencies or even simply other octaves.

That can't be possible. Maj7 chords are supposed to sound nice.

Make sure you didn't detune fine pitch controls.

I would guess your playing the B an octave lower, and is causing some nasty audible beating with the C. Try playing the B an octave higher, you like it now?

As well as what everyone else has said, acoustic instruments don't sustain higher frequencies for long at all, but synthesizers can. If you're playing a slightly dissonant chord (eg. Cmaj7), and using - say - a pure saw wave for each note, the higher frequencies sustain forever and make it sound more dissonant. Or something like that, at least.
